What is the Difference Between Indiegogo 'Contributions' and an 'Investment' in Airing?

Airing launched its Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign on June 15, 2015 and it ran till about the end of 2017. Indiegogo is a wonderful way for an inventor of a product to raise start-up money from intrigued people in order to fund the development of the invented product. In our case, people could contribute for several different kinds of what Indiegogo calls “perks.” Some perks might get your name on the wall, others got a call with the founder/inventor, and others got vouchers for future Airing micro-CPAP devices.

In none of these instances does a person’s contribution to an Indiegogo perk translate into an equity position in the company. In fact, Indiegogo didn’t allow people to invest in companies when we launched. It’s just not how the platform worked.

What is a fulfilled perk on indiegogo?

When Indiegogo proclaims a contribution as “fulfilled” it means that the perk was delivered. It does not mean, in the case of someone contributing for Airing vouchers, that Airing product was delivered. It simply means that the voucher for the perk was delivered to the contributor. To date, all vouchers have, in fact, been delivered.

Airing maintains a list of all contributors, what they contributed, what was delivered and especially if they received a voucher. We intend to redeem them as soon as the original Airing micro-CPAP devices are in production. However, for that to ultimately happen, we need the Airing SmartMask to be successful. And we have every reason to be confident that it will be. It solves a real problem, we have working prototypes, and we are encouraged by the response we’ve been getting from investors in the company so far.
